Bill 25 aims to modernize legislative provisions as regards the protection of personal information in the private sector. This reform modernizes the rules protecting personal information in Quebec so that they are better adapted to the new challenges posed by the current digital and technological environment.
As per the guidelines of Bill 25, in the event of a confidentiality incident, a record of such an incident will be kept and prompt action will be taken to reduce the risk of harm to the affected individuals. Both the Commission and the persons concerned will be contacted regarding any incident posing a serious risk of harm. Furthermore, we will comply with the law’s new framework applicable to the communication of personal information without the consent of the person concerned in the context of a commercial transaction or for the purposes of study, research or the production of statistics.
