Q– How do you fix a lock yourself?
A– This is a difficult question to answer. If your lock is just not working properly, try lubrication first and flood the cylinder and other moving parts with a specialized lubricant. Q– How do you fix a cylinder lock on a door?

Q– How do you fix a door knob lock?
A– There are many different types of door knob locks also known as key-in-knobs. These locking knobs come in a variety of functions such as storeroom function, classroom function and even asylum function. Q– How do you lubricate a lock?
A– Teflon and other specialized lubricants are generally the best and easiest to apply. Simply spray a small amount of lubricant into the keyway. Then run the key in and out of the lock repeatedly, wiping any debris from the key each time. Lubricate your locks like this at least once a year.
Q– Can you spray wd40 into a lock?
A– If you are in a bind, WD-40 will release your lock if cluttered with dust or just not used often enough. Do not use WD-40 as it is a solvent, not a lubricant and will, in fact, remove any type of lubricant that is in the cylinder. After using WD-40, make sure you apply a lubricant that has a silicone, graphite or Teflon base only. Lubit is a superb anti-freezing agent and lubricant.
Q– How can I get into my locked apartment?
A– A locksmith can open your lock without damaging it, most locksmiths use a non-destructive way to open your door to enter the property ensuring no damage is done to the lock or door, however high security locks such as Medeco, Abloy, Mul-T-Lock, Schlage Primus etc. are highly pick resistant even for a professional locksmith. They would generally find another way, hopefully non-destructive but this is not guaranteed. Even standard locks may need to be drilled if they impede the locksmith from picking it.

Q– How much does it cost to program a new car key?
A– The cost of car key programming can vary depending on the year make and model of your vehicle and whether you take it to the dealership or your local automotive locksmith. Car key programming ranges at the low end of $50 to as high as $500.
Q– Can you pick a Medeco lock?
A– Although certain highly specialized individuals can defeat some medeco locks by manipulation, these numbers are extremely small. 90% or more of all locksmiths will not even attempt to pick them. They have other ways to defeat them which out of a clear duty to the public, certified locksmiths do not reveal these methods.
Q– Where can I get a copy of Medeco keys?
A– Only Medeco authorized locksmiths are equipped to duplicate Medeco keys, and they record and verify every transaction. Each key cut is held on file at both the Locksmith and Medeco. There are varying levels of security, there are even keys that can only be cut at the factory.
Q– Can you trust a locksmith?
A– The best way to know whether a locksmith is trustworthy is to research them in advance. Call them, ask them detailed questions and check their reviews. If you‘re in a hurry, be wary of locksmith companies that answer calls with generic phrases like “locksmith services,” rather than a specific name. Make sure they are certified in your province and are bonded and insured.
